Planning your Online Presence

Need an app, a new website or redesigning your current one to keep up with new virtual demands? We can help!

Here’s some important points to get you started.

1. Define the purpose.

What is your aim?

The design, navigation and content should be driven by a purpose that ties in and aligns with your story, your promise, your target audience and most importantly their needs.

2. Be mobile-friendly or go bust.

Everyone is online, all the time, everywhere and anywhere.

You can’t afford to not be too. Plus, with Google’s latest algorithm, if your online platform is not mobile-friendly it gets penalized with lower search results then others that are.

3. Have a good snoop.

The best way to get inspired is to be a detective.

Gather insights and user feedback on your competition’s online presence, websites in other industries, or even your favorite brand’s websites. What works well, what doesn’t, what has been done 100 times over? A few minutes of searching can inspire new directions or innovative ways to showcase your story.

4. Be creative!

Think outside the box.

You’ve seen what your competition has done now don’t be afraid to do something different. Your online presence is your face to the world. Stand out from the crowd with something totally different than your industry! Get people talking about you.

5. The #1 most important investment is TIME.

You can’t rush creativity.

The biggest challenge most businesses face in building or rebuilding their online presence is not devoting enough time to it to make it successful. Your investment of time should be equal to your monetary investment. It is never too early (or late) to have copy, content and research ready.

6. Create a realistic timeline.

Rome was not built in a day…

And neither are good websites, apps or virtual event platforms. Keep in mind that there are important steps to be taken in the development stages such as, planning, creating, testing, testing and more testing. Be fair, be flexible and be realistic with yourself when defining when you and your team will be able to realistically deliver each stage of your online presence.

7. Be current.

Know what’s popular, important or relevant now?

A good online presence is always changing, growing and adapting. New content is added based on trends, topics or user feedback. Articles and blogs are created or shared to encourage new conversations. Understand that designing your online platform isn’t something you do once and forget. It is an ongoing labor of love and attention.
